For me, nothing in 2024 came close to the three minutes of bleeding-edge intensity unleashed in this mash-up video.
I stumbled upon it on the internet one day back in February and instantly fell under its spell. Fedora hats off to the person who put it together, someone going by the name of TROPHY PRODUCTIONS. Mind freaking genius, if you ask me.

Ok, so Mike Tyson may have been snailing around that ring against Jake Paul at times more like a 70-year-old searching for his pipe and slippers, but it was ‘Iron Mike’ – or at least a version of him – back in the ring – and that WAS a sight.

Especially with the advent of the writing contest. And I CANNOT believe it’s already been a year since the first one ! ! ! ! (add a thousand more exclamation points)
Hey, I watched the mashup with Sly and it WAS a visual and nostalgic treat. LOL !!! Not bad.
And I was ALSO thinking the other day about how innocent Nixon would seem compared to the Orange One today–so true!!!
I also, ALSO was disappointed with Romulus, although there were a few things I liked. I definitely liked the relationship between the girl and the android, and, like everybody else, I guess, I thought the guy who played the android did an amazing job. But all the callbacks…it was like, come on, dude, make your OWN movie, not a mixtape of all the Aliens ever made!
And one last thing–I finished Yellowface! Have a lot of comments but I won’t over-burden your post here. First and foremost, though–REALLY good, a page turner, and HORRIFYING–the publishing industry, that is. Oh. My. God. What a horrible, terrifying thing it’s become!!!

Well I’m so glad SOMEONE watched the ROCKY mash-up video! It makes the hairs literally stand up on the back of my neck every time I see it. Not about boxing, for me. Something much bigger than that.
And had President Jimmy Carter’s passing happened prior to me publishing this post I would have included it. He was definitely one of my favorite American Presidents. Just liked his quieter style I guess.
ALIEN ROMULUS? Not for me. If I had to give that a rating it would be 4/10. The only other movie I saw at the cinema in 2024 was GLADIATOR 2. That was a 7/10 er. Best thing about that movie was lead actor Paul Mescal. Not quite in the Russel Crowe league but good enough.
Rebecca Kuang’s new novel is titled KATABASIS and is expected to be published August 2025. Think I’ll look out for that one.
