One of the more fascinating UFO cases described in the Netflix series TOP SECRET UFO PROJECTS DECLASSIFIED took place in Melbourne (Australia) back in 1966.
I know – I know. That’s the naïve pre-internet days – back when people could be fooled a lot more easily, right?
That’s what I thought, but wait ’till you hear the details of this case yourself. Then judge for yourself.

At 11:00 am on Wednesday, 6 April 1966, approximately 250 students and staff from Westall High School, (now Westall Secondary College) in the Melbourne suburb of Clayton South reported seeing a flying object, described as a grey saucer-shaped craft with a slight purple hue and about twice the size of a family car.
According to the students, the object was descending, overflew the high school, and disappeared behind a stand of trees.
Approximately 20 minutes later the object reportedly reappeared, climbed at speed and departed towards the north-west.
It was at this point the headmaster came out and ordered everyone to go back to class.
Some accounts describe the object as being pursued by five unidentified aircraft.

Perhaps an even greater mystery is what happened following the sighting. Within 40 minutes, airforce and army personnel in their trucks poured into the area and formed a security barrier around the reserve.
Government officials warned staff not to say anything. Andrew Greenwood, who was a Year 9 Science teacher at the school at the time, recounts his experience in the interview below –
A 52 minute documentary was made about the incident back in 2010 –
And to round-off the clip-fest, the WESTALL INCIDENT is discussed at length in a 2020 documentary called THE PHENOMENON –

U.S. author ELLE COSIMANO has released the third in her Finlay Donovan mystery series – FINLAY DONOVAN JUMPS THE GUN.
Title character Finlay Donovan is an author and single mum. In this installment she takes on – in her own mumsy, writerly way – the Russian mafia (something Denzil Washington did to inspired effect in THE EQUALIZER 2014).

I think the Netflix series may give me nightmares, like when I watched Close Encounters when it came out in 77. Was there any government dismissal of the Westall incident as being weather balloons? I’ve heard a lot about menacing weather balloons where I am.

Government dismissals plus walls of silence have surrounded the Westall Incident since the beginning. Funny you mention weather balloons Karen. Ten years ago this theory – concerning high altitude balloons used to monitor radiation levels – got ‘aired’ –

I know ALL about this story. I just saw a recent documentary with hubby where the kids, now adults, are talking about it. So interesting that many kids received a “benign” message/warning that “we” have to “do better” here on Earth, as if coming from a place of caring on the aliens’ behalf, right? But I DON’T BUY IT. I just don’t. I don’t think anyone’s that benign. If “somebody” out there wants us to not destroy ourselves and earth, I feel like it’s only because They need us here for some reason that suits them. I know, I know. I’m so optimistic, lol

Very perceptive and wise thoughts Anon.
The notion of altruistic aliens from other worlds coming here to warn us of the dangers we are inflicting on our planet for no other reason than ‘neighborly-ness’ sounds a little too ‘rose-colored glasses’ to me as well.

I left a reply in here and it disappeared.
But you TOTALLY hit on what I was saying, Glen! I don’t think for a second that they’re worried about us and/or what we’re doing to the planet. Their motives probably surround keeping us around in order to continue using us for whatever they’re using us for. They can’t do that if we destroy ourselves.

It disappeared?
Could that in fact be more evidence for the idea that strange occurrences seem to take place whenever the subject of UFO’s come up? Or could that possibly amount to adding 2 and 2 and getting five?
Super advanced and intelligent intergalactic species would surely be wise enough to know that living populations on whatever planet need no assistance in evolving but instead will ‘work it out’ themselves in their own good time.

Yeah, I don’t know on what “level” they’re advanced–maybe technology-wise, but not wisdom-wise, like you say.
ALSO…I just realized my first comment is actually above–under “anonymous.” Even though I know I was logged in. But who knows? Every time I come in here, I have to log in–even though I never logged out.
Then on top of that, I never get any notifications that you “liked” or responded to comments. I usually have to dig old posts out of the “trash” to see what happened.
More evidence that aliens don’t want information or cross-communication about them getting out! lol
